Farm Stays, Classes, and Events

John teaches whole animal butchery and sausage making to chefs, businesses and families. He worked as a butcher for 12 years, and his classes will teach you more about the food you eat, how best to prepare it and how to utilize more of the animal.
Beth has taught everything from elementary school to college classes. She teaches about writing, memoir, and will host your group for reflective time on the farm.
Classes are taught in our amazing barn-house (pictures soon to come!): an old barn from the 1880s that has been made into a teaching kitchen and farm-stay haven.
We can also come teach a class in your home or community center. Private classes make a wonderful gift for that food-loving friend, hunter, or aspiring food-writer.

Beth taught at the University of San Francisco for six years and loves to coach students young and old (and middle-aged too) on writing.
Her experiences reporting on food and agriculture for the past 25 years and her book Bet the Farm: The Dollars and Sense of Growing Food in America has also given her interesting perspectives on farming today. She is available to speak to your class or book club and can also consult with your business or non-profit. Contact Island Press for a media copy of her book.
