Yeah, But How Much Does It Cost: Water

Updated: Dec 19, 2020

Often you will hear about how cattle are bad for the environment, largely because raising them uses a lot of water. Which is only partly true. Where water comes from, and how it is used, is also important when talking about how "good" or "bad" something is for the environment.

At Whippoorwill Creek Farm, we have ready year round sources of water in rainfall and our catchment system of ponds. Placed with forethought, these ponds enable us to move water around the farm efficiently. We can do this without the use of wells, municipal water and usually without even electricity. In doing so, we are able to leave the water in the water cycle, creating only a very small water and carbon footprint.

So without further ado, here is today's vlog post on water. And thanks to Riley Evans for creating this fun video for us.
